Description

This course is designed to examine the basic philosophy problems. We will investigate the central questions of fundamental human concern from several major areas of philosophy: the philosophy of religion, the philosophy of mind, metaphysics and epistemology, and ethics. The course also introduces conceptions of human nature and topics of the good life, happiness, and knowledge. Problems introduced by science, morality, religion, politics, and art will also be discussed. Students reflect upon philosophical issues through discussions and formal critical essays so as to develop the analytical skills necessary for effectively evaluating arguments and thinking independently.
